Omni Hilton Head Oceanfront Resort offers access to courses designed by Robert Trent Jones, Arthur Hills and George Fazio.

South Carolina has hundreds of golf courses throughout the state (more than 350, actually), many of which have hosted legendary professional players and tournaments. Whether you’re traveling with friends or the whole family, stay at a plush golf resort packed with amenities to please everyone. From crystalline swimming pools and beach concierge services to high-end shopping and even kids’ activities, these are the places that make vacations a breeze.

At Wild Dunes Resort just outside of Charleston, golfers can choose from the Harbor Course along the Intracoastal Waterway or the oceanfront Links Course—both designed by Tom Fazio. And then there’s all the other activities: fitness classes, a tennis center, treatments at the spa and salon, bike rentals and numerous pools—from family-friendly to adults only.

Revel in true Southern hospitality at The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island Golf Resort, beloved for its lavish amenities. When you’re not teeing off on the five championship golf courses, unwind in the Forbes Four-Star spa, play on the Har-Tru clay tennis courts, rent a beach cruiser to explore the island or lounge by one of the many swimming pools.

In Bluffton, Montage Palmetto Bluff is situated along the serene May River, offering a Lowcountry escape that feels like a world away. When you’re not playing the 18-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course, cast a fi shing line in the salt marsh flats, explore the nature preserve via kayak or test your aim on the sporting clay course.

With its pristine beaches, maritime forests and luxurious resorts touting world-class golf courses overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, Hilton Head Island is a golfer’s paradise. At Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort, test your mettle on three challenging courses punctuated by sand bunkers, glittering lagoons and tropical foliage. Then head to the marina for dolphin tours and nature cruises. Omni Hilton Head Oceanfront Resort is also part of the Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort Community, offering access to these courses designed by Robert Trent Jones, Arthur Hills and George Fazio. When you’re not playing, relax with a massage or body treatment at Ocean Tides Spa, or wander the shops at nearby retail districts such as Shelter Cove Towne Centre, Coligny Plaza and Village at Wexford. Boasting three championship courses—Heron Point by Pete Dye, Atlantic Dunes by Davis Love III and Harbour Town Golf Links (home of PGA TOUR's RBC Heritage Presented by Boeing)—The Sea Pines Resort offers plenty of playtime. The rest of the family will find lots to do, too, with pickleball, horseback riding, lawn games, beach yoga and kids’ crafts.

Myrtle Beach’s Dunes Golf and Beach Club is home to the 18-hole Robert Trent Jones-designed golf course that has hosted the likes of the PGA Senior Tour and the USGA Women’s Open. Other amenities include tennis, pools and popular social events like concerts on the lawn and holiday cookouts. Book one of the many vacation rentals—from sprawling homes to cozy cottages and convenient condos—at Fripp Island Golf & Beach Resort on St. Helena Island and enjoy access to two designer golf courses, plus a racquet club, swimming pools, a kids’ summer camp and the nearby Camelot Farms Equestrian Center.

For a gorgeous Blue Ridge Mountains setting, head up to Travelers Rest to stay at the European-style Hotel Domestique. Guests have access to seven private golf courses in the area, including the parkland-style course at The Cliffs Valley, offering breathtaking views of surrounding mountains. Enjoy access to fitness amenities such as Ventum NS1 and GS1 bikes, cycling guides, an infrared sauna and complimentary use of Hypervolt Plus massage devices for muscle recovery.
